I stumbled upon this Welcome Mat a few weeks ago. The message behind it was so powerful and inspirational that I wanted to share it with you!

It’s all about being the best that you can be. The best version of yourself. And while the underlying message is to love, be kind to others and yourself, we often neglect what WE need and doing things for ourselves.

This week, I will step onto the Welcome Mat and will welcome a new challenge for myself. My hip replacement surgery was a little over 5 months ago and I got carte blanche from my surgeon to resume exercising and do whatever I wanted to do (at least that’s how I interpreted it!) Prior to my surgery I was practicing yoga 6 times a week, okay, sometimes everyday and now I’m going about 4 times a week. Apparently it’s not helping me recover properly and using the muscles that are needed to make me stronger and not ‘kvetch’ and ‘oy’ everytime I walk or do basic chores.

New Plan: Listening to my body!

Moving forward I will cut back from my yoga practice and I’m making a commitment to do cardio/ strength training exercises needed to boost the muscles in my lower back and gluts. On a personal note – hopefully the swelling will go down!

The magical words on the mat helped me to move forward and try something new. Don’t forget to never quit and believe in yourself!
