I love yoga and practice it regularly at the Moksha Studio in NDG. Today starts the 30 Day Moksha Challenge where you set an intention to practice yoga consecutively for 30 days. And it’s ok if you don’t go everyday – the idea is to challenge yourself and you can set your own intention.
4 years ago I toyed with the idea of trying a 30 day challenge. I didn’t want to commit to it since my kids were still in school (confession time – Tamara and Jarred were in their early 20’s and Mark, my youngest, was graduating high school lol!!) Truth be told – I was afraid of not being able to complete the full 30 days. I had the ‘all or nothing’ attitude and if I didn’t go every day for 30 days – how would it look???
The funny thing is that even back then I was telling my friends and clients that it’s NOT about being perfect! It doesn’t matter if you didn’t have a ‘perfect’ eating day or if you had a handful of chips or if you didn’t work out. My advice was always to “look at the whole picture and be proud of what you DID do, not what you didn’t.”
I took my own advice and that year I participated in my first 30 day Moksha Yoga Challenge and I learned something new about myself. It wasn’t about being able to practice yoga 30 days in a row, but something on a much deeper level. I loved all the benefits – mind, body and soul, that I received from the yoga practice. I know it sounds corny, but it was very spiritual and I loved being part of the Moksha community. I knew at that moment that I needed to make it a priority to practice yoga more often in my week.
Make April YOUR month and set an intention. It could be to have a little more patience with others and yourself, to eat a little more mindfully, to take that walk you’re always talking about, to get lost in a good book or maybe just to relax and soak in the tub. But whatever it is, do it for you and make a commitment. You’ll only know how good you feel after you’ve let yourself experience it.
What’s your intention? As always, I’d love to hear from you!
