Eating healthier has nothing to do with being on a diet. I know I sound like a broken record, but you know that I don’t believe in diets!
Think about all the times that you started another diet, went off that so called diet and was ready to give up on yourself. Did I mention that diets don’t work??
Why not try a new approach and plan? Rather than give yourself a list of what ‘you can’t eat’, why not make a list of things that you can eat. It’s time to put into action a plan that will work with your lifestyle and is sustainable for you.
Here Are 5 Things That You Can Do Right Now
1. Eat Breakfast
Whether you choose to have oatmeal, yogurt and fruit, an egg with toast or whole grain toast with peanut butter or avocado with veggies, breakfast is the fuel that you need in order to start your day.
2. Eat Clean
Try to eat foods that are minimally processed such as whole grains, veggies, fruits, nuts, legumes, eggs, fish and lean meats. Fresh, clean foods not only provide many nutrients and have a tremendous amount of health benefits, but they help to keep us feeling fuller and satisfied.
3. Drink Water
Often hunger is mistaken for thirst. Keep hydrated and drink water throughout the day.
4. Eat Fresh Fruit and Vegetables
By choosing healthy snacks like fresh fruits and vegetables more often, you may find that you don’t eat processed snacks as frequently.
5. Don’t Skip Meals
When you eat 3 meals (and a late afternoon snack if needed!) throughout the day it helps to keep your metabolism going and keeps you energetic all day long. It will also help you from overeating during the day because you won’t feel famished!
These small steps lead to big results! My advice – keep it simple. Make plans that you can keep and start slowly. The fist step is always the hardest, but in no time all your efforts will be like 2nd nature. It’s time to get healthy.
